We are a friendly group with approximately 30 active members, meeting in Room 4 at the Quinborne Community Centre at 10.30 am on the 3rd or 4th Monday of alternate months. We are open to new members.

Visits to local places of interest take place on the intervening months, on Mondays where possible, depending on site opening hours.

Subjects of recent talks have been ‘The Back to Backs’, ‘Birmingham City Centre back in time’ and ‘The Rise and Fall of Whitley Court’.

Our visits have included, The Lockup" aka the West Midlands Police Museum and The Lapworth Museum of Geology at Birmingham University. Visits must be prebooked and paid for at the preceding meeting. Any enquiries can be referred to Gerri Draysey at Local History .

26 January. 'Rock around the Park', a talk by Dr Steve Watson.

30th March ''Like it or Loathe it', a talk on the brutalist architecture in Birmingham.

27th April A visit to Lichfield, the Samuel Johnson Birthplace Museum and also the Cathedral.

1st June " Born in Birmingham 1914-1924" a talk by Liz Palmer.

30th June A tour of Hartlebury Castle. The cost is £18.50.

28th September The History of Harborne Library, a talk by John Doling.

October 27th. A tour of Stourbridge Glass Museum, with refreshments. The cost is £15.
