Contact Creative Writing
Have you ever been in a situation where you thought this would make a really good story or article or perhaps even a book but you didn’t know how to start writing it? Well, if that applies to you, most of us in the u3a Creative Writing groups also start from scratch and we learn how to do it as we go along.
The creative writing group has met regularly throughout the year at 10.00 am. It provides the opportunity for those who have no experience of creative writing to find out whether creative writing is for them and if so to follow a carefully structured course which introduces them to the subject and covers basics skills and techniques. At the same time those who are already established writers can present their work for comment.
Over the years the group has self published anthologies of short stories and poetry raising not inconsiderable sums for charity. Membership is restricted to eight people to allow time for each person to have their work properly considered. One of our members is currently in the process of exploring how we can make our work accessible to a wider audience on the internet.
The current Creative Writing group has already published nine books. Six of these are anthologies of stories, poems and other pieces. Four are books published by members themselves; sales of these raised over £3000 for charity.
We will be exploring the possibility of running a second group in the new year. If you are at all interested in seeing whether creative writing is for you please contact the Group Secretary.
