The garden group was set up in April 2011 and we meet, usually, on the third Tuesday of every month at 10:30 a.m. or sometimes on a Friday morning.

The purpose of our gardening group is to explore and learn about gardens and plants through visiting gardens and arranging talks. Venues are occasionally reached by local transport but more often by car sharing.

Our gardening year will start, as usual, with a social event with food. In January 2026 we will meet for lunch at The Physician for the first time.

Our programme of events will start on 10 February 2026 with a talk on "Awareness of Bees and their Importance in the Environment" by Alison Wakeman. Details will be included in the 2026 Programme.

We will have a number of garden visits throughout the remainder of 2026, some more local than others. By going as a group to these gardens we often are able to arrange a private guided tour or introduction followed by lovely refreshments.

Gardens visited in the past have included: Picton Nursery near Malvern, Avondale Nursery near Coventry, Badge Court Garden, Coton Court Garden, The Firs, Whitlenge Gardens and Arley Arboretum. Also there was a coach trip to Western Arboretum which was open to all H&E u3a membership.

We are able to hold an annual planning meeting thanks to group members Chris and Mike, who kindly act as hosts welcoming us to their lovely garden. A full calendar of visits is posted on this page.

We are a well supported and enthusiastic group, who love to keep meeting to enjoy gardens. We regularly have more than 15 people coming along on each visit. We are always happy to welcome new members as we have no upper limits to our numbers.

Below are more photographs of our garden visits.
